• You will also need to make sure your garden is safe, so your puppy can not get out.
  

• You will need to be prepared for accidents on your carpets, as a puppy on average has not got complete bladder control till he/she is 6-9 months of age.
  

• Also if you are not a experienced dog owner, you should be prepared to go to puppy training classes.
  

• You should be aware also that your puppy on average can not go out to parks, for around 6 weeks, until he/she is fully vaccinated.
  

• You also need to be prepared for your puppy  chewing, and keep him/her safe, away from live wires.
  

• You will need to learn about crate training, if you are to do it.
  

• You should be prepared that your puppy, will mourn for the first few days, till he/she gets used to where he/she is, and feels safe.
  

Before you consider buying, a puppy you need to be responsible, about what you are taking on. As a puppy is a enormous responsibility, and is a long term commitment of average around 8-10 years maybe more.

Decided to buy a shar- pei puppy.

Here's a few guildlines to follow

• Puppies should be at least 8 weeks of age, before going to there new home
  

• You should be able to meet, one or both parents. Mother will be out of coat, due to the puppies taking goodness away from her, but she should be still bright and clean, with a good temperment.
  

• Check that the breeder provides good after care, and guidance, most reputable breeders do. Also a leaflet or help sheet.
  

• Puppies should be in a Happy environment which is clean, bright and warm.
  

• Puppies eye's should be open and clear with no discharge. (They should of had there eye's tacked if they have entropian, meaning their eye lashes are touching their eye ball).
  

• You should never take a puppy, that it's eyes are not open, as the breeder will be a unreasonable breeder and you don't want a puppy from someone like that.
  

• Your puppy should be confident, not shy, aggessive or fearful.
  

• The breeder should provide you with a contract, (that should be available before you pick your puppy up, if you are wanting to read it before). It should be clear and easy to read. It should included any guarantee's, and any restrictions on pedigree.
  

• Your puppy's Kennel club paper work, should be there to be picked up. When you pick your puppy up.
  

              Any delays you should be               informed about, and written                confirmation to the fact it is on it's way, should be provided with.

• Check that the breeder supply's food, with your puppy, so you keep him/her on the same diet, as a change of diet can cause diarrhea.
  

• All reputable breeders provide four weeks free insurance, for your puppy. Make sure you receive yours.
  

My Advice on Vaccinating your shar-pei puppy

I am different to other breeders, as a advice people to vaccinate there puppy at 8 weeks+.

I feel it is important to vaccinate your puppy, so he/she, can go out and not have the risk of catching parvovirus or leptospirosis and other various viruses, that vaccinations protect against. There is a small risk when vaccinating any breed of dog, but the risks outway the consequences.

In any breed of dog, a dog can have a allergic reaction to the vaccination and by waiting a few weeks, it would not change the out come would be the same. Sadly dogs do die from vaccinations, but it is a very very small amount, and the risks are so much higher to leave your puppy unvaccinated, but like I say this is my advice from experience.

I feel it is important to get your shar pei vaccinated as soon as, so he/she does not miss out on socialisation, with other people and other dogs.
